My husband, children and I met my sister and her kids at the East Coast half-way point (she's in Florida, we're in New York) and had a very enjoyable Christmas at the cottage together. We did our own cooking for every meal except Xmas eve (the kitchen was pretty well equipped (although some sharper knives would have been welcome). Finding a restaurant open on Xmas eve proved challenging, but happily we found the Crab Claw and had a very enjoyable time there. We were blessed with warm, balmy weather on the Saturday of our long weekend so we explored Fort Macon and went to the aquarium.
Kathy was very thorough in her instructions so there were no unwecome surprises. All in all we had a wonderful stay.

Hello! Our family spent the week of July 19-26 in Beaufort Cottage! What a great vacation! The house was larger than suspected and clean upon arrival. We ate at the Dock House and at Frost's on Emerald Isle. We had pizza from No Name Pizza. We visited three different beaches -- Fort Macon, Indian Beach and Atlantic Beach. I think the kids agreed that Indian Beach was the best. It was great for shells! On the Wednesday of our week there, we drove to Cedar Island and took the ferry to Ocracoke. (Pack a lunch as the ferry ride is 2 hours and 40 minutes!) We ate at Captain Ben's on Ocracoke and drove up to Hatteras and on north. Crossed back to the mainland at Roanoake and home through the beautiful country of North Carolina. This was our most enjoyable vacation yet! We left four boogie boards in the garage for someone else to use and enjoy! I highly recommend this wonderful cottage!

Our daughter got married on the first weekend we were at the house. Many of our family travelled from Canada to be at the wedding and then we stayed for the week after the wedding. We had a fabulous time and it was fun showing them the part of the world that we have moved to. The house was great, we really enjoyed it, both for its own charm and for its proximity to downtown Beaufort and to the beaches. Wonderful, wonderful memories.

A good beginning is so very important in a "promising" relationship. Our week-long stay at 97 Sunset Lane in beautiful Beaufort provided an almost unbelievable backdrop for just such a relationship. Not having seen the condo prior to our arrival, we breathed a combined sigh of relief that quickly turned into an instant feeling of being "at home". Actually "nestled" in the middle of this historic town, the warmth that "97" generates makes us imagine what it's like here on a crisp Fall day. Hum-m-m-m.
The linens, the well equipped kitchen, and nicely appointed bathrooms were all pluses.
Being so close to all 'the happenings' (Morehead, Atlantic Beach, the Maritime Museum, Cape Lookout (we did the climb!); the great shops on Front Street) was an added bonus. We truly feel that we'll return to 97 Sunset Lane many times in the future - each time marking another milestone in this "promising" relationship.

I arrived at the Beaufort Cottage a single woman and left married!! It was wonderful.. The house was so children friendly.. I entertained all my family while there.. We exchanged our commitment to each other in the living room and my brother, Capt. Joe Darden, prepared the most awesome seafood bash ever served.
What wonderful memories we made!!

A great time was had by everyone! The weather reports called for rain almost every day but the "rain gods" were with us. It was warm and sunny almost every day! We visited Fort Macon, went to Indian Beach quite a few times, and took the "Cape Lookout Express". We also enjoyed breakfast at the Anchor Inn and had a scrumptious dinner at Clawson's! The house was well stocked and we enjoyed just relaxing and drinking wine on the upper deck. There was plenty of room for everyone, including the two dogs! We hope to visit again someday!! Thanks again for allowing us to enjoy our vacation at the cottage.

We (my wife and my son's in laws) spent a wonderful Christmas at 97 Sunset Lane. My son & his wife reached Kathy before we arrived and she let them put up a small Christmas Tree for our arrival. With both of my children and his new wife living in Beaufort, I have spent 6 trips to Beaufort in the past 12 months and have enjoyed all the places I have stayed at, (but) I would recommend 97 Sunset Lane to anybody. Although, I did not meet Mr Fallon, we talked on the phone since he was in Huntington. He is definitely taking care of the place. Have fun in Beaufort and enjoy all the wonderful things to do in the town.

Hi, I am Kathy Haas, owner of Vacation Rentals 4 You. My husband Robert and I became involved in the vacation rental business after we found our dream vacation home in beautiful "Beaufort-By-Sea" on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.
On Labor Day weekend of September of 1998, we became the proud owners of 1531 Front Street in Beaufort, NC. Located in a lovely, old waterfront neighborhood with many homes dating back to the 1930's and 40's, our home was built in 1950. A great feature of the home is an upper deck with spectular views of Taylor's Creek Waterway, Carrot Island with it's locally famous wild horses, the Back Sound and Shackleford Banks (Southern end of the Outer Banks).
In order to help with the expense of our second home, we elected to accept a long-term rental through a local real estate company. We only had one weekend in the house before the tenants took residence for one year. It was the longest year ever! After that, we vowed never to do a long-term rental again. Though the extra expense was hard, we both had good jobs back in Greensboro where our primary residence was (and still is) which allowed us to keep our vow.
We spent the next couple of years loving updating our "Beaufort Cottage". We put in many long, tedious hours of labor, but we also were able to enjoy our wonderful vacation home! View Slide Show of "Beaufort Cottage".
By 2001, I was no longer working outside the home. We had taken out a second mortgage on our vacation home to help cover the expenses of updating. It became obvious that we had to have some short-term rental income from the vacation house. But, how would we advertise our vacation rental?
After much research into media advertising of all sorts, I found that the Internet was the most cost effective and had the broadest audience potential. I painstaking learned how to write HTML code to build a website to feature our vacation home. To promote our website, I diligently learned website content and keyword optimization. As a result our site reached the highest level of search results in the Internet search engines. While working on and researching ideas for the website, I made the discovery of Internet advertising sites for vacation homes.
In 2001, there were only a few Internet ad site companies. Other vacation homeowners who, like ourselves, saw the need and potential for Internet advertising started most of these fledgling enterprises. They offered ads with descriptions, lists of amenities, rental rates, area attractions, pictures and availability calendars for less than $100 per year (sometimes much less, even free or trial listings). Though the ad sites were primitive by today's standards, they were very inexpensive for many second homeowners and they worked!
From June 2001 through June 2002, we were able to find vacation rentals via the Internet for our "Beaufort Cottage". However, due to the Internet vacation rentals industry being in its infancy, we simply didn’t have enough time to build our business. Rising taxes, escalating insurance (due to several hurricanes) on the Beaufort house, one primary mortgage, one vacation home mortgage with a second mortgage and two sets of utility bills, brought us to the unhappy conclusion that selling our dream vacation home was our only option. In January of 2003, we signed the papers and our "Beaufort Cottage" had new owners.
As it turned out, the new owners were interested in contracting me to continue to manage the website, Internet marketing and reservations for "Beaufort Cottage". Over the next several years the owners added three more vacation rental properties, Beaufort Bungalow, 97 Sunset Lane and 99 Sunset Lane. Born on the cutting edge of the emerging Internet Vacation industry, Beaufort NC Vacation Rentals today is doing a thriving business!
In January of 2008, we were contracted to manage Internet marketing and reservations for Surfside Beach SC Holiday House Vacation Rental Condos. Holiday House has four three-bedroom, 2-bath units with ocean views and is just across the street from oceanfront. We are very excited about this new opportunity and look forward to many happy vacation rentals for our guests and owner!
